Consultant Neurophysiologist

Dr Elias Ragi graduated from the University of Baghdad with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 1972. His interest and training for Clinical Neurophysiology began in 1977, at the Hospital for Neurosurgery in Baghdad, followed between 1979 and 1980 by undertaking fellowship from the Danish Agency for International Development for training in electromyography in Denmark and Sweden. From 1981 to 1985, he did research and study for the DPhil at the Department of Clinical Neurology of the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford. After further training and work in Birmingham, he took up the post of Consultant in Clinical Neurophysiology at the Royal Devon and Exeter Healthcare NHS Trust between 1990 and 2019, also at different times serving Somerset, North Devon and South Devon and holding Honorary Research Fellow at the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Exeter. He now dedicates his professional time to private and medico-legal practice, seeing patients and claimants referred by general practitioners, gynaecologists, obstetricians, anaesthetists, physicians, orthopaedic, plastic, cardiovascular, spinal and neurosurgeons.

Dr Elias Ragi has experience in the treatment, with botulinum toxin, of dystonias and pain from muscle spasm and, in March 2008, 2011, 2013 and 2015, attended Advanced EMG and EMG-guided Chemodenervation courses at Duke’s University Medical Center, USA. He is a member of the Association of British Neurologists and the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.




Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist

Dr Hay Mar is a consultant clinical neurophysiologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, primarily based at Charing Cross Hospital in London. She specialises in adult and paediatric electrophysiology tests, essential for diagnosing a range of conditions such as epilepsy, carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy, peripheral nerve injuries, different types of peripheral neuropathies, radiculopathies, myopathies, and other neuromuscular disorders.

Dr Hay Mar graduated from the University of Medicine, Yangon, Myanmar (Burma) in 2012. She relocated to the United Kingdom in 2015 for her postgraduate training. She trained in clinical neurophysiology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, and the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. Her expertise in clinical neurophysiology involves various diagnostic methods including nerve conduction studies (NCS), electromyography (EMG) and electroencephalograms (EEG) (Routine, Sleep Deprived, Video-EEG Telemetry, Ambulatory).
