Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)
Nerve conduction studies comprise of the measurement of electrical function of nerves in your arms and legs. Tiny electrical pulses are used to stimulate the nerve and recordings are made using electrodes placed over the nerve or muscle.
Electromyography (EMG)
A small needle is inserted into the muscle and the electrical activity is recorded and analysed. EMG results can diagnose nerve dysfunction, muscle dysfunction or neuro-muscular junction disorders.
Why would I have a NCS or EMG?
These tests are primarily used to help your doctor confirm or exclude various diseases of the nerve or muscle. The test results are also beneficial in supporting further management of disorders/diseases
How Do I Arrange Treatment?
We require a written medical referral. After you have made contact with us we will be in touch with an appointment via phone or email to confirm and to ask for any additional details or information we may require.

Common reasons for referral include:
-Peripheral neuropathies, including demyelinating neuropathies

Founder and Director
Mr. Rafid Al-Mahfoudh founder and director of S&B diagnostics ltd is an extensively trained Neurosurgeon, experienced in treating the full spectrum of spinal disorders, pituitary tumours and endoscopic neurosurgical techniques. Mr Rafid Al-Mahfoudh is an appointed Consultant Neurosurgeon and Complex Spine Surgeon at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals since 2015. He is honorary senior lecturer at the University of Brighton and previously honorary lecturer at the University of Liverpool. He is one very few surgeons with dual orthopaedic and Neurosurgical spine accreditation in addition to further specialist fellowship training in anterior skull base and minimally invasive neurosurgery in Adelaide and New York.
